About

I worked in Information Technology for almost 40 years.  I worked for large corporations on a global scale.  In mid-2017 I brought my career to an end.  I was excited about the prospects of retirement while not fully understanding what they might be.  Since then, I have been fortunate and retirement has been every bit as enjoyable as I had hoped, and more.

I’m male and have been married to a lovely wife for over thirty years.  We have three sons born in the late eighties and early nineties.  They are all moving into married life or parenthood or both.  Their partners/fiancées/wives are lovely and the onset of grandparenting has been terrifically rewarding.

Although I have lived for most of the last 20 years in London during the working week, our family home is in Gloucestershire.  I gave up my flat in London a couple of years ago and now live in Gloucestershire more permanently.

My primary interests have always been music, cinema, sport (especially football) and gardening.  But all these are becoming secondary to seeing our family expand and thrive.  Overall, retirement has been lots of fun so far, and this blog explains why.
